It was a historic massive welcome of the Senator representing Abia South senatorial zone, Senator Harcourt Enyinnaya Abaribe after his arrest and release by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.
At the Imo Airport Owerri, it was amazing as the people crowded the area to express their joy that the Senator whom they called ” Egwuruegwu, Onunaekuru oha, Enyi amongst other pet names returned home healthy after the incident in Abuja.
At the Umu-Ekai junction Isialangwa South LGA, Abia State, the people who mounted like eagles along the road waiting for the return of their Egwuruegwu; released a 21 gun salute for the Senator to show their love and solidarity to the one man ” Abaribe”
It was same at the Osisioma Ngwa Junction where another group of people came out in their large numbers, rolling drums and trumpets led by the member representing Osisioma, Obingwa and Ugwunagbo local government areas at the Lower House, Chief Solomon Adaelu to receive Senator Abaribe whom they described as a 5 Star General and led him to the Aba Town Hall.
At the Senator Abaribe’s triumphant entry into Aba the Enyimba City, the people of Aba North LGA led by the Executive Chairman, Prince Stanley Ogbonna and the Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Uzo Azubuike said the Senator is a respected Igbo man.
The PDP Zonal Chairman, Abia South, Chief David Chigbu while crossing the Party PDP Abia South Secretariat, Aba Owerri Road Aba released gun salutes for their senator (Senator).
The train of Senator Abaribe’s civic reception landed at the popular Aba Town Hall, were the people led by the Executive Chairman, Aba South LGA, Chief Kingsley Emereuwa flanked by the Executive Chairman Ugwunagbo LGA, Chief Sam Eze Nwanganga, the member representing Aba North in the Abia House of Assembly, Chief Blessing Nwagba, the Chief Press Secretary to Abia Governor, Chief Enyinnaya Appollos, former Commissioner in the state Ezebunwa Ubani, former state PDP Secretary, Chief Charles Esonu Onyedikachi, Chief Mrs Uwaoma Olewengwa and other dignitaries after releasing some gun salutes to receive their hero (Abaribe), said the eagle has landed and with a large heart has been representing their people well.
In their separate speeches, the Deputy Speaker Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Cosmos Ndukwe, the member representing Ukwa East and West at the lower House of the National Assembly, Hon. Uzoma Abonta and the member representing Osisioma Ngwa, Obingwa and Ugwunagbo, Chief Solomon Adaelu said the importance of senator Abaribe’s experience politically can never be over emphasized and promised their support to him at all times.
At the C.S Park Aba; another large crowd waited patiently to see the Senator.
The people commended senator Abaribe for his boldness and asked God to protect him.
In a press chat with the Senator as directed by the Media Aide to the Senator, Comrade Uche Awom, the Senator Rep. Abia South at the Red Chambers Sen. Abaribe narrated his experience with the security agents and thanked all those who stood by him during the trial period.
He re-emphasized his resolve to keep saying the minds of his people.
Cultural troops and other side attractions entertained the audience.
It would be recalled that the Department of State Services (DSS) on Friday June 22, 2018 arrested Sen. Eyinnaya Abaribe, senator representing Abia South at the National Assembly and was released on Monday June 25, 2018.
The story of the senator’s arrest might not be unconnected by the watch of the DSS on the senator since standing as surety for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who hasn’t been seen or heard in public since the army invaded his home last year.
