Speaking during an interactive session organised by the Board for head teachers in Gombe and Kwami Local Government Areas, Babadidi said the directive was aimed at compelling public school managers and teachers to take their work seriously.

He warned that Gombe SUBEB had zero tolerance for absenteeism from both the teaching staff and pupils in public schools.

“If a teacher’s wards attend public schools, it will make room for seriousness on their part and dedication to work. Then the much desired impact the state government is after will be evident.

“Henceforth, Gombe SUBEB will not accept any act geared towards sabotaging the effort of Governor Inuwa Yahaya to restore the past glory of the education sector, especially basic education, in the state. Late coming and absenteeism by teachers and pupils is prohibited.”

Babadidi added that the board frowned at exorbitant school fees charged by private schools in Gombe.

He appealed to private school owners to reduce the cost of fees so that parents would be able to give their children and wards quality education.
